Bio
Hi there, I'm Alli (she/her)!
I work with couples and adult individuals who are longing to feel more connected - to themselves, to each other, and to what matters most.
I believe humans are wired for connection. From our earliest relationships, we learn how to seek comfort, express our needs, and make sense of the world around us. Over time, we develop patterns in how we relate to others and how we protect ourselves - patterns that may have once served us well, but that can leave us feeling disconnected, anxious, or overwhelmed in our present relationships. My intention is to offer you a space to slow down, gently examine these patterns, recognize the stories we carry about ourselves and others, and reconnect with the kind of life and relationships you long to have.
A meaningful part of my work involves supporting clients around sex and sexuality. I received specialized training in sex therapy and human sexuality through my masters degree program and clinical internship experience. Sexuality is a deeply personal part of being human and one that many people feel alone in navigating. I work with couples and adult individuals regarding concerns like mismatched desire, sexual anxiety, and the ways infidelity can hinder trust and intimacy. I also support clients with exploring sexual identity and orientation, untangling communication patterns that erode closeness, and embracing non-normative relationship structures. However you're showing up, I am here to meet you with an open and non-judgmental lens.
I bring a compassionate, collaborative approach to therapy that honors your lived experience and your inner wisdom. As a queer woman, I'm especially passionate about supporting LGBTQIA+ clients and those who have felt unseen and marginalized. I pay close attention to the cultures, systems, and power dynamics that shape our unique experiences in the world. I come to this work not just as a therapist, but as someone who has experienced the transformational power of therapy firsthand. I know how vulnerable this process can be and how healing it can feel to be truly seen. My style mixes warmth, curiosity, and respect with invitations to be challenged along the way.
I hold a Master of Arts in Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy, with a specialization in sexuality, from Lewis & Clark College and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of San Diego. My clinical work is rooted in Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Levels 1 & 2), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Narrative Therapy, sex therapy, and social justice. Also woven throughout my work are attachment theory, parts work, and mindfulness practices. Together, we will collaborate and draw from these approaches in a way that feels most useful and meaningful for you.
When I’m not in the therapy room, I am likely enjoying live music, playing recreational sports, exploring Oregon’s natural wonders, watching reality TV while snuggling with my cat, or getting deeply invested in a board game!
Specialties
Couples Therapy-Gottman Method
As a systemic therapist, I work with intimate partners to explore patterns of relating with each other, with close others, and with broader systems in the world. Together, we can envision new ways of relating and communicating that strengthen connection. The Gottman Method, an evidence-based approach with over 5 decades of research, is foundational to my work with relationships. I will also integrate EFT, mindfulness, and other approaches that feel most supportive to you in our work together.
LGBTQIA+
I believe that a key component of wellness is living authentically. As a queer woman, I recognize that the intersectionality of our various identities shapes our life experiences, including our close relationships. Our work together may involve challenging societal norms, supporting you in embodying your values, and celebrating your unique identity expression.
Emotionally Focused Therapy
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a renowned, evidence-based approach to individual and couples therapy. EFT is rooted in the exploration of attachment relationships across the lifespan and centers the human desire for trusting, safe relationships. Through this lens, we can imagine new ways of connecting in relationships with self and others that enhance understanding and closeness.
