Aubry Lope

MSW, LCSW

I am dedicated to providing an accepting space where individuals can share their unique life stories openly and without judgment. You are the expert of your lived experiences, and my role in therapy is to collaborate with you on a treatment that is personalized and sustainable. My goal is to provide support that not only addresses immediate concerns but promotes long-term growth. My approach is grounded in a deep understanding of human connection and strengthening critical thinking to build resilience. I draw from a range of evidence-based modalities; strengths-based, motivational interviewing, solution-focused, dialectical behavioral therapy, trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapy, and the recovery-oriented approach to instill hope. Through psychoeducation, you’ll learn how to identify how your symptoms impact various areas of your life - such as sleep, hygiene, nutrition, environment sensitivities, relationships, and physical health.

I have extensive experience working with severe and persistent mental illness in adults, including disorders that involve psychosis and complex trauma histories. Due to my previous work in community mental health and interest in how various systems cause harm, I’ve seen how individuals with complex backgrounds have repeated instances of being blamed, rejected, stigmatized, and profiled. I aim to provide anti-oppressive care through a strong trauma-informed lens that acknowledges power dynamics in the therapeutic relationship. I utilize a harm reduction approach to navigate the complex relationship between generational substance abuse and healthy human development. Additionally, I recognize that recovery is not always linear and absence of symptoms is not a universal reality.

I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Portland State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Criminology from Sonoma State University. I typically work with depression, trauma, anxiety, psychosis, neurodivergence, and welcome individuals who identify with the LGBTQ+ community. Outside of therapy, I enjoy running, watercolor painting, learning new outdoor activities like snowboarding, and spending time with my sweet Siamese cat, Kewpie.

Specialties

Complex Trauma

I specialize in working with individuals impacted by complex trauma, including experiences of chronic stress, attachment wounds, and physiological symptoms and their impact on overall physical health. My work is grounded in the understanding that trauma affects the nervous system, sense of self, and relationships—not just thoughts or behaviors. I offer a compassionate, collaborative space where clients can safely explore their experiences, build emotional regulation skills, and reconnect with their inner resilience. Therapy with me focuses on healing at a pace that feels respectful and empowering, supporting clients in developing greater self-understanding, stability, and meaningful connection.

Severe and Persistent mental illness

I specialize in working with individuals living with severe and persistent mental illness, providing care that is grounded in dignity, collaboration, and long-term support. I understand that symptoms can affect many areas of life, including relationships, work, and daily functioning. My approach emphasizes stability, skill-building, and consistency while honoring each client’s resilience and lived experience. I provide a recovery-oriented approach that centers hope, empowerment, and the belief that meaningful progress and improved quality of life are possible, even in the presence of ongoing symptoms, as I seek to address the stigma around psychosis.

Substance misuse in families

My specialty centers on substance misuse in families, recognizing that substance use affects the entire family system—not just the individual using substances. Therapy focuses on education, communication, boundaries, and support for recovery or harm-reduction goals, while promoting stability and connection across relationships.
